If you were woken up at 8:00am this morning….
…this is what you would have seen had you been near Eastman Business Park this morning as Kodak Building 53 was torn down in a controlled partial-explosion.
According to 13wham.com (2015), the demolition crew celebrated while some people who used to be part of Kodak cried. It wasn’t the collapse of one of the company’s legacy buildings that got people emotional– it was the quiet that followed.
“It’s sad to see how desolate this city has become and see such a giant become so destroyed,” said Randy DeVoss, former Kodak employee.
“I always wonder what George Eastman must think you know, does he feels these rumbles-it was a great company and being a retiree, yea it is kind of sad,” said Doris Knapp. (13wham.com, 2015)

The former media giant is planning on turning the site into a multi-tenant property with the intent of having other companies moving in, while shifting it’s main focus on to energy, biomaterials, and growth in the agricultural and food processing industries.
